The historic Delhi Assembly complex has recently been in the news over security concerns – ranging from an incident in which a man rammed his SUV through the iron gate and boom barrier into the premises, to bomb threat emails received on the official ID that later turned out to be hoaxes.
Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta has written to the Police Chief after the legislature received another threat email on Monday, urging him to address the matter, enhance security at the Assembly complex, and trace the source of such emails.

The Speaker highlighted the repeated receipt of threatening emails sent to both the official email ID of the Assembly and his personal email ID over the past few weeks.
According to Gupta, the emails reportedly mention plans to plant bombs in the building and carry out blasts within a specified time frame.
He further noted that another such threatening email was received on the official ID, as well as from a different email address, containing alarming claims about the use of explosives within the premises.
The matter had already been forwarded for investigation earlier, but the continued receipt of such emails is hampering the smooth functioning of the institution, the Speaker said, adding that these incidents are creating fear among staff members.
Emphasizing that the Delhi Legislative Assembly is a vital democratic institution, Gupta stated that any threat to it is extremely serious and poses a risk to the democratic system.
As the Presiding Officer and Head of the Assembly, Gupta has requested urgent action to trace the source of these emails, bring the perpetrators to justice, and take immediate steps to strengthen security arrangements in and around the Assembly premises to prevent any untoward incident.
